Ethan Frome: Prologue - Chapter II

2. What is the general setting of the novel?  How would you describe Starkfield, Massachusetts as you visualize it to someone who has not been there.
3. What does the narrator learn about Ethan Frome from other characters?  What effect does the knowledge have on the narrator?
